Apartment 1B, Makati City

Recently, my boss treated us to lunch at Apartment 1B, which, I reckon, is one of his favored places in Makati City. I wasn't a fan yet then. My first impression of the place is hyped up with high prices that don't match what it has to show. But it was his treat, so why would I bother to think twice?

I ate my thoughts as much as I ate, or tried to eat, my Roasted Half Chicken (Php 370).


If you think that half chicken is huge, you're not thinking big enough. It's humongous. I was taken aback when it was served. I thought I could finish it but I gave up several bites shy of bone-licking.

Was it flavorful? Yes! Was it juicy? Yes! Was it tender and meaty? Yes and yes!

Obviously, I was very happy with my order, mashed potatoes, veggies and all.

They were happy with their orders too. The Eggs Benedict (Php 320-Php 470), though I wasn't able to taste, looked really good. My colleague said it was yum as well. I can't remember if he got the one with smoked salmon (Php 470) or with Canadian ham (Php 320), but that looks like ham in the photo.


My boss was selling the breakfast plate to us. It read so appetizing on the menu, and I absolutely love all-day breakfast food, but I was more in the mood for roasted chicken that day.

I believe he ordered the Egg Breakfast (Php 280). I was able to sample the potatoes, and while I wouldn't trade my roasted chicken's mashed potatoes for it at that time, I knew what I will try next.

As you may have noticed, Apartment 1B's prices are indeed above the usual budget, but to the foreigners that frequent the place, the rates would be just about right. The servings are huge, the service is great, and the flavors are yum, yet the prices, I think, are still high, making Apartment 1B one of the more expensive restaurants in the Makati CBD. Despite all that, it won't make you feel bad about spending so much over a meal because you'll be leaving the place full, happy and content. And in my case, with a takeout bag even.
