Fruit Diet Detox: Days 1 & 2
>> Monday, June 14, 2010
I'm taking on a challenge. Being the meat-lover that I am, I don't know exactly how I can deal with taking meat out of my diet for a few days. Not just red meat, mind you. And, no, I'm not going vegetarian (never!), I'm taking it a bit farther. I'm going fruitarian!
For at least three days, I'm eating nothing but fruits. Yes, just fruits. For three days.
This is the first time I'm manipulating my diet in any way. Normally, I just eat whatever I want, whenever I want to. So, this fruit diet is quite extreme for me, but I do hope this detoxification program won't be for naught.
Today is the 2nd day and I'm pretty happy with myself. There is the usual craving for different dishes, and I get hungry soon after I eat. But aside from that, I don't feel anything wrong with my body. In fact, I feel extraordinarily light. I like it.
Okay, so my temper is a bit high up there, although I can't really say if it's far from my normal self. I feel sleepy, too, every now and then. But, again, I'm not sure that's anything out of the ordinary. Maybe we'll see tomorrow.
The cravings, however, aren't as bad as I thought. It's not about my body wanting meat. It's me, my taste buds and my mind wanting the taste of meat. Beyond that, I'm craving for flavor.
I'm trying to get much variety into my diet to ease the lack of flavor. So far, I've only been eating bananas (lots of it!), mangoes, apples and papaya. I tried searching for a nice-looking avocado, but there are only pitiful ones.
Tomorrow is the 3rd day. If I get through tomorrow on fruits alone, I've reached my goal. But I'm pushing it to more than 3 days. Friday would be ideal, but as long as Tuesday comes and goes without anything in my stomach but vegetative ovaries, I'll be happy and proud.
Go detox!
