You've been up-sold

We always spend hours at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf having coffee or tea, and talking. Rarely do we order food because we usually have just eaten, or we bring something to chew on.

Since we often stay at Coffee Bean, the baristas have grown to recognize us. It has a few perks, I must say, if only to just be treated nicely every visit -- no nightmares. But, after being sold a brownie that we didn't plan to buy, I've come to realize that the perks aren't exclusive to one party after all.

They asked us to try their new chocolate brownie. I'm sure there's a crumble there somewhere in its name because it is topped with a solid mix of rice krispies and, I'm betting, brown sugar.

The brownie didn't stand a fight and morphed into brownie ruins in just a matter of minutes.

I, myself, was bent to eat only the brownie underneath. My taste buds didn't find the top portion agreeable. I couldn't figure out what it was. I guess there's a rum-like taste in there that turned me off a bit.

The brownie itself really is good. It's not too sweet, but the rich chocolate flavor is there.
